Pumpkins, corn stalks, mums, cabbage, kale and ornamental peppers and fall annuals are here and they look great! Talk a walk around he nursery this Saturday during the Market to get a taste of the amazing Autumn colors that will soon surround us.
Summertime vacations are in full swing and so while most folks take a much needed break, the market is going to scale back to Saturdays only until the Autumn. Having the market on Saturdays also gives our vendors a break to enjoy the summer months and get ready for the harvest of fall.
All our farmers and vendors will be at Gossett Nursery each Saturday to bring you all the great local food you have come to expect for the last 4 years. Be sure to take a look around the nursery also to see all the amazing flowers, plants, shrubs and trees that are at the height of bloom.
Did you know that the higher summer temperatures make July the most popular month for ice cream. In July, Americans celebrate National Ice Cream Month. U.S. citizens consume about 5.5 gallons per year (on average.) and speaking of ice cream, Hudson Valley's Best Jams will be serving their amazing sundaes again this Saturday.
PIPER LOU PASTRY/ JOHNNYCAKE MOUNTAIN FARM are quickly gaining a following for their AMAZING burger (it's actually getting almost cult-like, which is kind of exciting) , Johnnycake beef served on Piper Lou's freshly baked sesame seed bun, with Piper Lou's homemade ketchup or aoli sauce, with fresh lettuce and tomato (from the market of course). Their latest hit is their onion burger. If you like hamburgers, you HAVE to experience this. This is a BUCKET LIST BURGER! Trust us!
Johnnycake Mountain Farm is serving their mouth watering burgers again this Saturday along with fresh made donuts! So stop by, grab a farm fresh burger from a local vendor as you shop the market. If a big juicy steak is on the menu for this Fathers Day, then stop by the Johnnycake booth and see what John can do for you.
Gaia's Breath Farm will have plenty of grilling meats for those special Dads ..... Chops, Sausages and Roasts and Do Re Me Farms will have their fresh Stawberries. Get there early because supplies are limited!
Finally, we are thrilled to be having "Plum Plums Cheese" at our wonderful community market this Saturday. They will have italian bufala mozzarella, challerhocker swiss and other goodies....it's going to be a gorgeous Fathers Day weekend, so please come out and support the market and the vendors who work so hard to bring you such quality food, see you this weekend!
"Be sure to come by Gossett's farmers market this Saturday for lunch while you do your Mother's Day shopping! Johnnycake mountain farm will be serving our special dry aged burgers on a freshly baked bun. Then get a 50/50 lemonade iced tea to wash it down! We will also be serving slices of our sticky toffee pie. Treat your mom to a slice. Don't miss it!"
Gossetts' Farmers Market is proud to present Jim Nordgren this Saturday. Jim will be giving a talk on "Native Plantings for Birds and Wildlife." Gardeners often have a ...well.....shall we say a "tense" relationship with the local wildlife, as those critters love our plants, but for different reasons.
Come, sit, listen and learn what steps you can take to make your garden beneficially enjoyable to you along with our local wildlife and birds. The talk is free and Jim will be available for questions. The weather will cooperate this Satuday and the Nursery is starting to fill with all that Spring beauty (finally!!) that Mother Nature graces us with each season. Add to that the fact that the Farmers Market will be in full swing and you got yourself a great and local way to spend part of your Saturday afternoon.
Local food, local talent, local garden experts along with you, your friends and neighbors make Gossetts' Farmers Market at the Nursery a place that is "As Local as it gets!" See you Saturday!
